Dual-function directional xenon headlamps for the C4

Electronically-controlled dual-function directional xenon headlamps ensure maximum light coverage on bends. As the driver approaches a bend, the system’s sensors analyse the position of the steering wheel to detect the direction of the road wheels.

To ensure that the road ahead is lit as effectively as possible, these headlamps can swivel horizontally by up to 15° (8° for the headlamp on the outside of the bend and up to 15° for the headlamp nearest the inside of the bend).

By illuminating areas of the road previously left in the dark, these intelligent headlamps significantly improve driver visibility at night or in bad weather, and reveal the profile of the road, other road users and any obstacles ahead - all vital safety issues.



In practical terms, directional headlamps contain a directional twin xenon elliptical module for use in the dipped and full-beam positions, and a complex surface “long-range” halogen unit for full-beam only. This combined assembly delivers an extremely high level of forward visibility.
