C4

Zoom

Unveiled at the 2004 Paris Motor Show, the C4 made its market debut in November 2004.

Innovating in safety, convenience and onboard comfort, the C4 rapidly established a strong position in the mid-range market.

Subtle styling

The C4 Hatchback boasts smooth, protective bodywork, with unique exterior detailing. The profile of the hatchback is traced in a single line, with a strongly raked windscreen that extends the taut lines of the bonnet, before moving smoothly on to the curve of the roof.

But the styling of the C4 Hatchback body also exudes power. The detailing is strong at the front, with the headlights framed by the double chevron grille, and equally emphatic at the back, with incisively shaped rear lights. The quarter-lights and waist line exude an impression of contained power.

Innovations for onboard comfort and relaxed driving

The onboard comfort of the C4 is enhanced by innovative functions designed for easy, relaxed driving. For example, the fixed-centred controls steering wheel brings the main comfort functions and driving aids within easy reach. This ergonomic feature, which places the emphasis on easy-to-use controls, makes the car a pleasure to drive.

The C4 also features a wide array of modern and efficient driving aids. The lane departure warning system is a major step forward in driving safety. At speeds of over 80 kph, this system warns the driver if the car crosses a continuous or broken lane marking, when the indicator is not on.

The C4 introduces a range of equipment usually found in the next segment up, including Xenon dual-function directional headlamps and front parking assistance. The C4 also ships with a speed limiter with cruise control.

All these advanced functions create a relaxed atmosphere in the passenger compartment, further enhanced by the scented air freshener styled to match the interior, and the laminated side windows for acoustic comfort.

Travelling comfort also means relaxed driving in all circumstances. With its array of equipment and features, the C4 sets high standards in active and passive safety.
In particular, the C4 boasts the world’s first shape-optimised driver airbag. This feature, which relies on the fixed central section of the steering wheel, improves driver protection. Also, its design reflects efforts to protect pedestrians in the event of frontal impact.

A complete range of engines and gearboxes

Engine-wise, the C4 fleet vehicle is available with three petrol units – the 90 bhp 1.4i 16V, 110 bhp 1.6i 16V and 143 bhp 2.0i 16V – and three diesels,  the HDi 92,  HDi 110 (with and without DPFS) and HDi 138 DPFS.

Several gearboxes are available: a 5- or 6-speed manual gearbox, 4- or 6-speed automatic gearboxes, or the six-speed electronic gearbox system.
Two of these engines have CO2 emissions of just 120g/km – the HDi 92 and the HDi 110 DPFS with the six-speed EGS.

C4 BioFlex: a new model that respects the environment

The C4 BioFlex is the Marque’s first biofuel vehicle in Europe. Fitted with a 1.6-litre engine generating 82 kW, the C4 BioFlex is a full member of the C4 range, with the same equipment and the same trim levels.

This new version of the C4 contributes to greenhouse gas reduction by cutting CO2 emissions by 5% over a combined cycle. It also contributes to reducing oil dependency by using renewable energy.
